Meet Mary...
Mary was born and raised on the east coast, attended high school in the mid-west, then finally found her home in Colorado. She obtained her B.A. from Loretto Heights College in English and continued her education there, in the field of education.
After teaching English in a private, then public school for many years, Mary was recruited into a Master’s Program at the University of Denver for the teaching of the Emotionally Disturbed and Severely Learning Disabled. After receiving her M.A., she taught Special Education in the Adams 12 Public School System for 25 years, specializing in Emotionally Disturbed and Severley Learning Disabled Students K-12. Mary retired after 30 years of teaching.

It was time for new life experiences so her love of fine wines took her to the position of
Vice-President of The Academy of Wine in Denver. The Academy conducted weekend seminars monthly, at various locations in Colorado to a variety of participants, including culinary students, restaurant staffs and all who are interested in learning about fine wine complimenting exotic cuisine.
Mary's love of writing has led her to becoming a Free-Lance and Travel Writer. Mary is specializing in all types of Free-Lance writing including community events, elite cuisine, fine dining, wines and travel. What a great mix!
Mary's love of words and writing began at a very early age. Her first poem was published in, "The Buffalo Evening News," when she was in the 3rd grade. She wrote for her school newspaper during Elementary School, Jr. High School, and even into College. She was a member of many debating teams, which included extensive research, compiling the information into written form and then debating it. Helping with the photography in her high school yearbook, she learned how to capture the essence of the photographic subject, and fell in love with taking those "Kodak" moments.
In Denver, at Loretto Heights College, she received her Bachelor's Degree in English followed by Certification as an English Teacher. With years of editing and rewriting student's work, her writing and grammer skills became perfected. This continued after getting her Master's Degree at D.U. For the next 25 years, Mary wrote curriculum for English and Special Ed. departments which was used in classrooms. Since she retired from teaching, she has been the Vice-President of The Academy of Wine. This inspired her to pursue a new career as a Free-Lance and Travel Writer, since discovering that the combination of both could be of interest to others. She has written articles for many community groups and has traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Costa Rica.
Mary welcomes assignments from editors, publishers and public relations departments, and is excited to write about community, school events, special events, travel, extraordinary dining experiences complimented with just the right wine and other facets of life.
" I have always had a love for community, fine dining, wine and exotic travel. My career as both a Free-Lance and Travel Writer has blended these passions into one great feast for all to enjoy!"

On a recent adventure to Estes Park, I was struck with the effect that seeing The Stanley Hotel had upon my visiting friend. Set pristinely against a mountain background, this glorious hotel captures the eye of all who enter this western town.
Famous for its haunting tales and existing since 1909, The Stanley Hotel is one of Colorado’s famous and most beautiful landmarks. Walking around its premises is an awe inspiring journey, as the hotel is nestled within the Estes Valley surrounded by majestic mountains, affording breathtaking views from all directions. MORE...

Recap of the 2007 World Series ...If you’ve never been to a major sporting event in this country, this is the venue for you. Even if you have, there is no better experience than having the World Series played in your hometown.
It was an unexpected and thrilling opportunity for those of us in Colorado, as our Rockies had never been to the series. Being a die- hard Cubs fan for years, I had gotten used to never getting to the BIG game. However, this year, the Colorado Rockies came through for all of us. MORE...

A Christmas Jewel in Northglenn ... This holiday season, a must family visit, is to An Olde Fashioned Christmas at the Stonehocker Farmhouse in Northglenn, Colorado. Presented by The Northglenn Historic Preservation Commission, it was my favorite stop during the ’07 holidays.
It is housed in a restored farmhouse, each room within transfixed into a holiday treat. You’ll find baked goods in one, antiques with ornaments spilling out in another, Santa Claus awaiting children’s smiles and lists…with no lines and a comfortable, cozy, safe atmosphere. The kitchen is filled with home-made specialties, from delectable cookies to hand-crafted stockings, stuffers, and gifts. . MORE...
