The Stanley Hotel

  Mountain Treasure in Colorful Colorado

This hotel has it all. Only one hour from Denver and a short distance to Rocky Mountain National Park, it offers fine dining, 138 guest rooms, spa facilities and spacious rooms for romantic weddings and meetings.
We lunched at the bar, enjoying tasty sandwiches prepared by the renowned kitchen. A glass of chilled wine enhanced the occasion and warmed our hearts, preparing us for the shopping yet to come in Estes Park. Our waitress was outstanding and went above board to please our every request.
All in all, The Stanley Hotel is the perfect Colorado getaway to enjoy with your out of town friends, whether for an afternoon or an extended stay.

Home of the Rockies!
Reviews...World Series 2007

MORE.....recap of the 2007 World Series ....

Coors Field is the breathtaking home for our team. It is one of the prettiest in America, set with a backdrop of the Rocky Mountains. We were amazed at how convenient everything is to fans, with many opportunities for eating and drinking. The fare is typical to many sports arenas; “beer here,” is a call heard throughout the ballpark. Much of the food is typically found at all events, from the circus to concerts. However, hot dogs seem to be the one food that everyone craves during a baseball game.

There are many types of hot dogs to sample: Chicago, New York, Kosher, Denver…just to name a few. They are fabulous, covered with anything and everything you could ever want. Also available are German brats, hamburgers done to your liking, Philly Cheese Steak, etc. No fancy dining here, unless you scored Club Level seats.

We were able to find a bar or two on each level, but best of all were little stands that sold lemonade and hot chocolate, with peppermint schnapps and whipped cream added to your liking. They were simply amazing, adding warmth to one’s body and spirit. A must on a cold night!

Even though our team lost both of the games that I attended, the crowd loved every minute of it. Two emotions seem to always be present, either jubilation or disappointment. That’s what makes it an experience of a lifetime: the roar and cheers of the crowd, or the groan of disappointment and pure anguish. To hear the crack of the bat when a ball is hit, to cheer when your team is doing well, or even to swear because of a strike-out, that is what American Baseball is all about

Stonehocker Farmhouse
in Northglenn

Presented by The Northglenn Historic Preservation Commission

Santa Claus awaiting children’s smiles

MORE...A Christmas Jewel in Northglenn for 2008 ...cont...

In the living room sits a fine, antique piano. The day I was there, Nancy Storm, a retired Adams 12 Music Teacher, sat playing Christmas Carols, while two young visually impaired girls chimed in spontaneously with their innocent voices. Talk about the TRUE Christmas Spirit….everyone there was moved.

This year, the Olde Fashioned Christmas will again be held at the Historic Stonehocker Farmhouse, located at 10950 Fox Run Parkway, in Northglenn. They will have:

Santa Claus, Face Painting, Homemade Gifts, Baked Goods, Decorations, Socking Stuffers, and the fabulous volunteers from the Northglenn Historic Preservation Commission.

The event will be held on Saturday, December 6 th, from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM, and again on Sunday, December 7 th from 11:00 AM until 3:00 PM. Additional Open House Hours will be on: December 13 th and 14 th and December 20 and 21 st from 6:00 PM until 8: PM.

Special Appearances will be held by The Northland Chorale on Saturday the 6 th at 3:00 PM and again on Sunday the 7 th at 1:00 PM. In conjunction, The Northglenn House Tour will begin immediately following the Saturday performance.

Finally, all will love entering the Second Annual Count the Lights Contest with a prize of a $500.00 Savings Bond. Count the lights, working and non-working, on the fire truck and the prize is yours.

All proceeds benefit The Northglenn Historic Preservation Commission, but the real benefits are to those of us who take a 10 minute walk back to the last century to embrace a Christmas Jewel.
